Memory card error.......2006-05-09

My review mirrors of this product mirrors that of another customer posted recently. For some months after I first bought the card, it worked great. Now it has twice caused memroy card errors and corrupted data with my Canon Elph, and photo technicians have been unable to retrieve any of the pictures from the card. Judging by what other customers have written, I'm suspecting that this may be an issue of poor compatibility between Canon cameras and Viking cards. In any case, I will be buying a new memory card and it will certainly not be a Viking.

How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Viking 512MB CompactFlash, like most 512MB cards, will store on average 568 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 426 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 256 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 204 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 160 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this 512MB card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

Never a Complaint Never a Concern.......2002-12-31

I have used both the 512 Meg and 256 Meg Flash cards in my Canon G2 camera. I have yet to experience any performance issues. When you are at an event or a special location and want to take pictures, the last thing you should have to do is edit your work. These storage devices allow me to take pictures quickly and efficiently and at volume for later review on my PC. These storage devices offer an great value comparable to all other on the market.

I bought a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 7.2 Anniversary Bookshelf Speakers with Real Oak Veneer, and they look very nice, but sound so-so. Now, something you will have to stare at all the time, at least when you are watching TV, you don't want to see some ugly black box too often seen in a home theatre showroom. If you care about the looks, this is the center speaker to have. The Maple cabinet is simply beautiful. I haven't figured out if it is real wood, but then who cares. However, don't ever take the grill off (it's hard to take it off anyway). The two woofer cones are ... in paper. The sound, as expected, isn't great, actually, slightly worse than the Diamond 7.2. As long as you have a pair of nice sounding front speakers, these inexpensive Wharfedale combinations make a very nice complement. Together, they form a wonderful home theatre system, with style. Next, subwoofer.

Looks pretty but is bad........2007-01-01

Looks so pretty but worked just 1 month and broke. The CI of the monitor is bad and I tryed to talk with Xerox and nobody answer me. Don`t buy it because if you need talk with Xerox you will never get.

Don't forget to unselect smooth scrolling in the options menu!.......2006-01-07

Bought this LCD as a last minute kind of purchase at a local retailer because my old one crapped out on me. It's been up and running for a while now and I've been running Photo Shop Elements, Empire Earth, Windows Media Player (for streaming video), firefox, IE, and Outlook, and MS Word. Pictures, Empire Earth, and videos work great on this monitor. However, I Fired up an internet browser and the text on the web pages looks fine as long as your not scrolling down or up the page with the scroll wheel on your mouse. Using The scroll wheel on web pages will cause text to flicker or on some pages flash black to green and back to black off and on kind of thing and links will go back and forth from normal to bold. To solve this problem it took me a while but found out that it was caused by having the "smooth scrolling" check boxes checked and so I deselected them and things have gone back to normal. Also worth noting is the power led is at the very bottom of the panel just a tad from the center and an extremely bright eye catching blue. The blue LED takes a while getting used to and it's still eye catching after 2 days of use. Overall once you get the check boxes unchecked for smooth scrolling it's a good monitor. Now if I can just get over the bright blue LED I'll like it a lot.

This is a great monitor for kids.. I bought a 17" for home and my office is trying out a 19". Pluses: graphics, easy setup, easy to clean the screen of smudges and fingerprints. Minuses: no height adjustment, no swivel side to side. And the idiot who puts permanent labels on the screen prior to shipping should be fired ! Took 15 mins of using cleaning products to remove the residue from the label.
