The speakers' proprietary ported enclosures ensure smooth, consistent low-frequency response, irrespective of where they're placed. The enclosure also directs the speakers' lower frequencies into your listening area while keeping them from radiating directly into adjoining rooms.
The 191 speakers come with both rectangular and round grilles. Consider which shape will work best in your chosen location. If you prefer the round shape, it's easy to remove the rectangular (default) frames and replace them with the round ones. And when they're painted to match your walls or ceilings, they blend right in (you can always leave them white, of course).
The speakers are optimized for use with amplifiers ranging in output power from 10 to 100 watts per channel. Automatic protection circuitry protects the drivers from being overdriven, increasing their reliability without detracting from your listening.
For installation in a drop ceiling (where tile is installed below the ceiling joists), Bose offers an optional drop ceiling kit (product code 031355) for 2 speakers, which protects the tile from bearing the weight of the speakers. For installation in new construction, use the Bose rough-in kit (product code 031353) designed for use after the studs are in place and before the wallboard is added (to reserve a place for the speakers and indicate where the wallboard hole should be made).

It simply hums........2003-04-22
I bought this system to go with my JVC 400 watt surround. As soon as I connected it it began to hum. I thought maybe it was my JVC so I reconnected it to another RCA system I owned and it did the same thing. The sound is great at high volume but has the annoying hum at low volume and the sub drops out at low volume. I returned unit for a refund.

I bought this subwoofer based on the excellent reviews found online, but what a disappointment. This subwoofer sounded horrible from the first minute. The receiver that it was plugged into was a Sony STR-DA4ES.

I have a 17'x21 open living room to the kitchen and this sub works great in it. I had a klh 10 inch and It stopped working after I played an Iron maiden concert. This one rocks the house.
Good subwoofer but it's amp is only 75!.......2002-08-26
All Wharfedale amps that are listed on here have incorrect information as far as amp power! The amp power on this unit is 75. You would have to get the SW-12 or SW-18 for amp power of 150. This is a great subwoofer but it's very big!

I would defintely say this is a good subwoofer. I purchased this subwoofer from an Eloctronics store a few weeks ago and I think that it is great. The bass is definetely as much as you would need and it is a pretty good subwoofer for the price. If your looking for a subwoofer for your living room or T.V. room this would defintely be a good choice.

Boy, did I "outgrow" my Dell 15" flat panel. Yearning for something bigger, I started to look around at the larger sizes, starting at the 17" range. But wait, the prices of 19" flat panels have been cut in half since the beginning of the year, and now, thankfully, a 19" was easily within my budget for a new monitor.
To be honest, I was not very impressed with what I saw at the stores. Either the displays are not set up properly, or the stores only want to push Sony monitors which all looked better than all the other brands.
A few weeks back I got an email from Tigerdirect on their new Xerox 19" monitor for $449, which later dropped to $439. I liked the pictures and description, and it had specs that at least equaled most of the others. Even though I did not see this one in any store, I decided to "go for it".
The monitor arrived about 5 days later. Upon unpacking it, I found the display and arm attached together, and all that was needed to do was to screw in the metal base. Very easy. Then came setup time.
Since I was using DVI with my other monitor, I also used DVI with this one. NOTE: No DVI cable is supplied with this monitor. Only a VGA cable.
The monitor worked flawlessly connected to my Nvidia GeForce4 Mx440 Graphics card.
Out of the box, the computer's settings needed adjustment from the old 15" display settings.
The monitor's settings also needed to be calibrated, like a new television. There are a plethora of options you can use to adjust the brightness, contrast, color saturation, etc. I found that the display can be made much brighter than the out of the box setting.
The user manual came with an insert which states the contrast ratio is 600:1 instead of the box-stated 500:1. I can tell you that the blacks look real black on this unit.
After my own personal calibration, I must say that I am quite impressed. Colors are extemely vivid. Text is sharp. The screen is bright and evenly lit.
This monitor is not flashy or gimmicky looking. It screams out "I'm all business, now let's get working."
Now, while the graphics on this unit are impressive, there is a downside to this monitor. And that is the speakers. I tried it and they are quite awful. I immediately plugged my Altec Lansing speakers back into the computer. But I guess it's not too different from other monitor-grade speakers.
This monitor tilts up and down, but I have not tilted it yet. It appears you need to apply a good amount of force to move it. No problem, it is just fine being straight. It does not move up and down or swivel.
The build quality is very very good. Better than the Dell. This monitor is actually manufactured in conjunction with ProView.
After having it a few days, all I can say is that I am enjoying the monitor alot. Xerox picked a good unit to put its name on. For the $439 price, it is worth it.
